Youth Are More At Risk For Workplace Injuries

Staff Writer, Jul 25, 2007

A recent study by the Institute for Work and Health suggests that young people and those who dropout of high school and enter the workforce after graduating are more at risk of being injured on the job or even being killed. Since these people have the least or no work experience or skills, they often take jobs that have high risks. According to the report, up to two-thirds of young people may be working before or while they are 18.  The Institute for Work and Health also found that 8 percent of high school dropouts were injured on the job after comparing workplace injuries rates for those under 25.
