Workers Compensation Florida Law

Throughout the United States, there are many legal protections that are available to workers who have sustained an on-the-job injury, or who have became ill as a result of their job conditions or duties. Although the same basic principles underlie the claim systems that have been enacted, certain states have unique laws on the books that define the policies related to workers' compensation. Florida law dictates that employers in the state are required to carry workers' compensation insurance if they have four or more employees. For Florida firms that do business in the construction industry, workers' compensation coverage is mandatory for those businesses with more than one employee. In addition, many exemptions that apply in other states, such as those that render coverage optional for part-time employees and undocumented aliens, are not valid under Florida law.
