Workers Compensation Benefits

If you have sustained an injury or illness in the workplace, you may be entitled to a number of benefits through your workers' compensation program. As soon as possible after your injury, file a formal workers' compensation claim with the applicable agency or insurer in your state. Your claim will be evaluated by a number of different experts, and if it is approved, you will receive a number of financial and health care benefits. The type and amount of the benefits you receive will depend on the unique circumstances that exist in your case. However, some of the most commonly awarded workers' compensation benefits include medical payments, reimbursement of travel costs associated with medical care, temporary and/or permanent disability payments, and death benefits (payable to surviving family members). If your injury has prevented you from returning to your original job, you may qualify for vocational training that will help prepare you for a new career. Finally, if your case has involved discrimination, malfeasance, or other extraordinary circumstances, you may be awarded additional financial restitution.
