Worker Injury

Whether you work in an office setting or a high-risk occupation such as construction, you may fall prey to a work-related injury or illness. After you have sustained a worker injury, the first thing you should do is to seek immediate medical treatment if you are in need of it. If the injury or illness is not severe, it may be beneficial to notify your employer of the situation beforehand and seek medical treatment after filing the initial accident report and other relevant paperwork. However, in some states, this may force you to use the doctor or clinic that your employer chooses. In most states, you can avoid having to visit your employer's preferred doctor by designating your preferred physician before an accident happens. Most companies have the paperwork on file to document your preferred physician choice. If not, you can find the relevant form online or simply submit a typed, signed statement making your choice official.
