Work Injury Claims

In the United States, employees who are injured on the job may be eligible for health care coverage and other financial benefits. In order to determine whether your on-the-job injury may qualify for workers' compensation assistance, you must notify your employer about your injury or illness and begin the process of filing a claim. Work injury claims can be complicated, particularly when a great deal of evidence and documentation is involved. After you have gathered and submitted all of the necessary paperwork, your case will be reviewed by a third party, usually a representative of your company's workers' compensation insurance carrier. If the insurance company denies your claim, your case will usually move on to adjudication in the state's workers' compensation board of appeals. In some instances, you may be approached by the insurance company to consider a settlement offer. Although this may expedite your case and help you avoid the lengthy hearing process, be sure to fully consider the implications of a settlement before agreeing to it.
